The wild Ginkgo leaf, native to China has found its way into Arpita Mehta’s latest collection. The Ginkgo inspired prints and embroidery have been interpreted beautifully by the young designer. The queen of mirror embroidery, known for her modern take on Indian ethnic wear, has replaced the bright pinks and orange pops by pastels, nudes and blacks.
From lehengas to crop tops and not to forget palazzo and capes, the Ginkgo prints have fluently been embedded in the designs. The campaign which began end of 2016 was initially shot with models Sheetal Mallar, Ujjwala Raut and Tamara Moss and photographed by ace photographer Arjun Mark.
We’ve seen Ginkgo prints used extensively in the past in 2006 collection by Giorgio Armani, in 2007 by Christian Dior and more recently at the White collar fashion show in 2013 in China.
Arpita Mehtas Ginkgo collection can be found at Arpita Mehta Studio, 4A, Sheetal Apartments, Juhu road, Mumbai or online on Arpita Mehta’s official website.
